I am a portrait artist, based in West Wittering, West Sussex.
I have been painting portraits since I was 15, my first piece was of my father which happened to accentuate his features in a not so flattering way. My grandma also complained that her portrait wasn't so complimentary, she saw a wart, whereas I saw a wrinkle (many)! After these accounts I have developed my skill and am able to brush aside my instinctive style if desired.
However, I have found that these tendencies are much more acceptable when painting animals, who don't have a say in the matter. I enjoy capturing their character and nuances. I would happily paint owner and pet if required.
For commissions I paint in acrylics on good quality white card/canvas, but I am able to paint on any surface you may want. I love to paint on found mediums or mediums relating to the subject. Previously I have painted on drift wood, receipts, buoys, fabric, olds sails, chocolate wrappers and road signs.
I am open to any commission ideas how ever eccentric they may be, whether you wanted your tortoise painted on a lampshade or your husband/wife painted on the ceiling and of course a more traditional piece that can hang on the wall! Please get in touch.
