DAWA
This is a Nepali woman from a village called Thuman, carved into the mountainside of the Himalayas whose inhabitants are the offspring of Tibetans who survived the Chinese invasion; this woman’s parents fled from Tibet and she was the first generation in centuries to be born in a foreign region.
They brought with them their incredibly skilled hands, which enables them to weave and embroider their traditional hats, which Dawa is wearing in this painting.
Dawa is painted on a 90x90cm piece of wood, as I felt this material was more fitting with where she is from.

BUOYS
This collection of portraits explores different comedic
expressions and facial characteristics produced on buoys.

PRATIMA
Pratima is a beautiful Nepali girl who is part of the Dusty Yak family in Kathmandu. The Dusty Yak is a charity that adopted 11 girls from abject poverty and created a safe home and family for them to grow up in. I was lucky enough to volunteer with them for 3 months. Pratima is painted on a traditional piece of Nepali fabric.

ADVENTURE
Inspired by a European road trip, I decided to paint a portrait of a memory from the adventure using a collage of receipts, wrappers, bags and tickets acquired along the way.
